WHAT TO EXPECT

our vision

Are you looking for a place to grow in your faith, get connected, serve, and to really become part of a unique community that is making a positive difference in Portland and beyond? Then First Baptist Church (FBC) is for you! Since our beginnings in 1855, FBC has been community-oriented.

Our Vision here at FBC is to be:

A hospitable community deeply shaped by the Gospel of Jesus.

There are a few ways we go about this we call "onramps." These are ways you can get involved with life here at FBC...

Sunday gatherings

The first onramp is through our Sunday Gatherings. We gather together every Sunday to worship God and be in community. This is a great time to be encouraged in our walk with Jesus and learn from the teaching of Scripture. On Sunday mornings, we also offer programming for youth, grades 6-12 called “J.13 Youth.” We also offer a program for kids aged 0 through 5th grade called “KidChurch.” To learn more, just check with the Welcome Center or find one of our ushers.

Life groups

Second, we have programming for adults called Life Groups. This is our effort to create weekly opportunities for small group fellowship. We’ve got several different options across the city and here at church. If you want to learn more or get connected you can send an email to office@fbc-portland.org or talk to one of our pastors after service.

FELLOWSHIP MEAL

Third, we have a monthly Fellowship Meal where we go downstairs to eat together, meet those we haven’t met, and catch up with each other over a tasty meal. Checkout our calendar for more information.

Drop in

And finally, our fourth onramp is through our main opportunity for service here in the city. We call it our Drop-In ministry. If you don’t already know, we serve a meal to the community twice a week and offer grocery and clothing services. We also accept clothing donations that would usually go to a thrift store. Or if you’d like to volunteer your time please feel free to connect with us about that.
