Are you looking for a spectacular venue for your organization’s next big event? Are you trying to find a historic setting for your special occasion? Are you searching for a new home for your community organization? Then look no further than First Baptist Church of Portland! As one of the oldest members of the Downtown Portland community, we have been offering hospitality to the city for 170 years, and we would love the opportunity to extend it to you today.


Our pricing is composed of an amount charged for the space itself, a custodial fee (for larger spaces only), and a sound tech fee (if your groups requires use of our sound system).

There are 25 rooms available for rent. Here are just some of our most popular venue spaces:


Main Sanctuary: This elegant space is ideal for conferences, weddings, concerts, and worship services, seating up to 600 guests. Equipped with a professional sound system and designed with music in mind, our sanctuary is perfect for any large event. Use of our Fellowship Hall and Kitchenette are included with Main Sanctuary rental.


Fellowship Hall: Our spacious Fellowship Hall is perfect for receptions, banquets, and community gatherings. A wall can be moved to connect the Fellowship Hall with the Sanctuary in order to provide seating for up to 900 guests. Use of the Kitchenette is included with Fellowship Hall rental.


Community Center: Located across 12th Ave. from the Main Sanctuary, this venue features two large gathering spaces, a full kitchen, a stage, and several staging rooms.

Sanctuary Rental Information

First Baptist Church was founded in 1855 before Oregon even gained statehood. Since that time, we have served our community in many ways, including as an important gathering place for our members and for countless community groups. Located in the heart of Downtown Portland between 11th and 12th avenues, our historic Main Sanctuary was built in 1891 and features some of the most spectacular stained glass and artistic finishings that the city of Portland has to offer. Additionally, our Education Wing features meeting spaces for groups both small and large.


Our historic First Baptist Community Center (also known as the West End Ballroom) is a terrific space for weddings, quinceñeras, and all manner of community events. Over the years, we have hosted a great diversity of groups and events, including professional orchestral concerts, large conferences, world music shows, holiday events, organ performances, community service organizations, large gatherings of other local churches, private weddings, and non-profit staff meetings, to name just a few.
